Since its formal registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on January 5th, 2016, PIOLAF has operated not merely as a legal aid organization, but as a dedicated engine for systemic change and the uncompromising defense of human dignity. Our mission is rooted in a profound conviction: Justice delayed or denied to the indigent is a failure of the entire society.

To strategically discongest correctional centres across Nigeria by providing swift and free legal services to those awaiting trial.

Unwavering Commitment to Freedom and Reintegration
Our operational legacy is marked by immediate and decisive action across the Federation. A testament to this commitment was the seminal campaign initiated on December 15th, 2020, when we applied to correctional centres across multiple states to offer free legal intervention for selected convicts. The swift and positive approvals, notably from jurisdictions including Niger State, Lagos, Kogi, Zamfara, Sokoto, the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), and the Kontagora Correctional Centre, marked the rapid expansion of our intensive, on-the-ground work.
From that moment forward, PIOLAF—largely funded by the steadfast commitment of P.I. Oyewole & Co.—has channeled millions of Naira into legal battles. These resources have been meticulously spent to secure justice for countless individuals whose fundamental human rights were violated by wrongful accusation or systemic injustice. We are proud to declare that many of these prisoners have since been set free and are now living freely in their communities. Crucially, the Foundation did not stop at liberation; PIOLAF also carried out vital integration programs to ensure these newly-freed citizens were successfully reintegrated into society, transforming them from victims of injustice back into productive members of the community.
